Ever wondered which frequency your phone is using and how this is affecting download speeds? Or whether another operator would be better? Or wanted to compare 4G and 5G speeds?
Our new android-only app, SignalTracker, can tell you. It shows the frequencies your device is using, their signal strength, the technologies used and the download speed.
You can record the results for a variety of locations and use dual SIMs to compare the signal strength of two networks.
The app is free and has its own dedicated SignalTracker website which gives support and details of use cases.
The anonymous data collected will also be used to inform our research about spectrum usage. Some examples to follow!
