5G-Advanced deployment tracker added to PolicyTracker Spectrum Research Service
The tracker follows mobile operators’ progress in adopting 5G-Advanced (3GPP Release 18) network technologies.
5G-A will bring a step-change in 5G network capabilities and performance, but deployments are only just beginning.
PolicyTracker‘s 5G-Advanced deployment tracker provides details of the global and regional rollout status of this network upgrade and is regularly updated with the latest developments.
It covers every stage of mobile operators’ work on 5G-Advanced (5G-A), from initial investments in tests and trials through to the rollout and launch of commercial services.
The tracker is accompanied by a 5G-Advanced overview and an analysis of how deployments are progressing in different parts of the world.
5G-A – also known as 5.5G – marks the mid-way point in the 5G cycle and lays the foundations for 6G. The first 5G-A standards arrived in 3GPP Release 18 in June 2024, and Releases 19 and 20 will bring further enhancements.
5G-A will create better user experiences and new monetisation opportunities for mobile operators, as well as bringing other benefits such as AI/ML network optimisation and reduced network energy consumption. For enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), multi-gigabit data rates are envisaged.
The 5G-Advanced Deployment Tracker and other 5G-Advanced research notes are now available to PolicyTracker Spectrum Research Service subscribers.
