Harmonised European spectrum regulation for short range devices (SRDs) –  particularly the release of the 433, 868 and 915 MHz bands – has played a key role in the development of a vibrant market.

Assessing the effectiveness of current regulation and considering future needs will be the topic for a roundtable discussion at the LoRaWAN World Expo in Paris on July 6-7

The session will look at major EC Decisions, ECC Recommendations and national implementations that have enabled public, private and hybrid deployments of terrestrial and satellite IoT networks. It will also provide some views on the next steps needed for spectrum IoT regulations to respond to future European challenges for connectivity, security, privacy and the green economy.

Panel participants of this regulatory-dedicated session will include,

  • Andrew Gowans (Senior advisor on International regulatory affairs @ OFCOM & Chairman SRD/MG)
  • Vincent Durepaire (New Spectrum Use and European Affairs @ ANFR & Chairman WG FM)
  • Daniel Bielefeld (Technical Senior Council @ BNetzA & Vice Chairman WG FM)
  • Ales Brabinek (Radio Spectrum Policy, DG CNECT @ European Commission).

The session will be moderated by Martin Sims from Policy Tracker.

Also speaking at the event are Mariya Gabriel, the EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth and Laure de La Raudière, the Chairwoman of ARCEP.
