PolicyTracker website: error message with Safari browser

Why does Safari say "bad request" when I try to access the site?
There is a fault with the Safari browser which prevents access to secure sites like Policytracker i.e. those starting httpS:// rather than http://
You will a message like this:
"Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Reason: You're speaking plain HTTP to an SSL-enabled server port. Instead use the HTTPS scheme to access this URL"
This is a bug in the browser rather than a problem with our site. However, it is usually fixed if you close and re-open Safari.
