An increasing number of regulators around the world are allowing unlicensed use of the 6 GHz band. Change in this policy area has been so rapid that we have now updated our 6 GHz benchmarking service, which was first published in June.

As we summarise in the Research Note 6 GHz benchmarking update November 2021, countries in the Americas tend to make the entire 5925—7125 MHz band available, whereas other regulators release smaller portions of the band.

The extent of change over the last four months can be seen in our summary maps from June and November (below), with countries that have implemented 6 GHz rules shown with an orange dot.
