PolicyTracker Spectrum Database updated with latest auction results and awards

Notably, Indonesia completed its L-band auction, its first auction in more than four years. The auction saw the country’s state-controlled fixed incumbent miss out on regional licences, which were awarded to its competitors. The L-band was divided along regional lines in the country, and the licences are to enable the expansion of fixed services.

Serbia held a significant 5G multi-band auction that saw the country join its Balkan neighbours in auctioning 5G licences. The auction generated a total of €300.1 million as 700 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2600 MHz and 3.6 GHz licences were awarded to the nation’s three major operators.

This update covers six countries, similar to the previous update in October. Are there fewer spectrum auctions these days? With the US consulting on a future C-band auction and the UK expanding access to the upper 6 GHz band, we believe that the lull in activity is only temporary.
