A comprehensive 5 day course
Organised in conjunction with:

First run in 2009 to great acclaim, this course offers regulators and commercial organisations the opportunity to experience the theory and practice of spectrum auctions. In the company of top experts you will discover the golden rules and identify the pitfalls to avoid. This is a practical learning experience not to be missed.
We have entered an unprecedented period of spectrum release, so what better time to attend a course which gives in depth analysis of the theory and practice of spectrum auctions. Around the world several new bands are coming to market, including the spectrum freed by analogue TV switchover as well as 2.6GHz, 3.4GHz and re-farmed portions of 900 MHz.
Norway, Sweden Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and the US have already assigned these bands using techniques ranging from the tried and tested simultaneous multiple round auction to the innovative ‘technology neutral’ combinatorial clock approach. This course will assess the successes and failures giving you practical experience in both designing and bidding in auctions.
Never has the design of spectrum auctions been more crucial to balancing policy goals such as universal affordable broadband and healthy competition, with the need to ensure a fair price for public assets. And never has the execution of a successful bidding strategy been more crucial to companies' long term success.
The course is aimed at people who either work for regulators or for commercial organisations who are likely to take part in spectrum auctions. The programme is particularly relevant for the following fields: mobile; broadcasting; wireless broadband; electronics manufacturers; and public sector spectrum users such as aviation, maritime, emergency services and defence.
The content is well suited to three groups of people:
The course is delivered through a flexible combination of lectures, exercises, practical demonstrations, mock auctions, feedback and review sessions, and ‘question and answer’ sessions with expert speakers. It blends the latest theory and learning with highly interactive practical learning. Class size is limited to 25.
