Why attend this course?
In the next few years most countries will be releasing some of the most important spectrum to become available for decades. As well as the prime UHF spectrum freed by the transition from analogue to digital TV, bands at 2.6 and 3.4 GHz as well as 900 MHz released through re-farming of GSM are due to come to market. These frequencies will be vital for new mobile and wireless broadband services.
Never has the design of spectrum auctions been more crucial to balancing policy goals such as universal affordable broadband with the need to ensure fair competition and to return value to government coffers. And never has the execution of a successful bidding strategy been more crucial to the long term success of the major players in the wireless market.
The masterclass will draw on the considerable academic research about auctioning and valuing spectrum, as well as the practical experience of the teaching team in designing and running auctions. It will provide a timely overview of a subject which will be front of mind in spectrum management in the months ahead.
